YOUR QUESTIONS, EXPLAINED

IVF due dates,
explained.

How is an IVF due date calculated?

Your estimated due date is the embryo transfer date plus 266 days, minus the embryo’s age in days. A day-5 transfer adds 261 days; a day-3 transfer adds 263 days; a day-6 transfer adds 260 days. Your clinic’s dating takes priority.

How many weeks pregnant am I after embryo transfer?

Pregnancy dating includes the two weeks before fertilisation. On the day of a day-5 transfer, gestational age is 2 weeks and 5 days. For a day-3 transfer it is 2 weeks and 3 days. The calculator adds the days since transfer.

Can I use this for a frozen embryo transfer (FET)?

Yes. Use the actual transfer date and the embryo’s developmental age at transfer, as confirmed by your clinic. Time spent frozen is not added to gestational age.

Is my IVF due date the exact date I will give birth?

No. It is an estimated date, not a prediction of the exact day of birth. This tool cannot confirm pregnancy, viability or the number of babies.

Why does the calculator show a reference pregnancy start?

It is a mathematical date used to express gestational age. It does not have to match your actual last menstrual period, particularly after IVF treatment.
